Arts & Crafts with Studio 614 on Good Day Columbus { Fox 28 }

Who is ready to party this weekend!? If you’re having friends and family over for the fireworks, these are the perfect DIY crafts we demonstrated on Good Day Columbus this morning to complete your snacks/drinks table! I also demonstrated how to make some quick sparkler attachments for safer fun for the kids.. and adults, if you’re afraid of sparklers like I am!

Pete Scalia & Shawn Ireland helped me complete the crafts on this beautiful, colorful table of 4th  of July fun!

Star Sparkler Attachments

Supplies you’ll need: sparklers, paper plates (red, white, and blue), scissors, and a pencil to trace

To create these fun sparkler attachments, follow the step-by-step process below:

  1. Begin by tracing a star on one of the paper plates, from edge to edge (but not including the rounded ends of the plate)
  2. Then, simply cut out the star.
  3. Use the end of the sparkler which acts as the handle (the skinny side) to push a hole through the center of the plate
  4. Be sure to not wiggle the sparkler too much making the hole larger. We want the star to fit tightly on the sparkler.
  5. Keep the star about an inch from the end of the burning part of the sparkler.
  6. Enjoy!

Finger food Fireworks

Supplies you’ll need: metallic garland, scissors, toothpicks, scotch tape, or glue

  1. Begin by cutting about 3 inches of the garland off.
  2. Use double-sided tape or roll a piece of scotch tape in a circle and secure the end of the toothpick to the end of the garland.
  3. Then begin rolling the garland around the toothpick, and secure it tightly with another piece of tape.
  4. Cut off any excess garland that you don’t need. The more garland, the fluffier the firework will look!
  5. Use for any finger foods, cheese, meats, cupcakes, etc!

Colorful Table Runner

Supplies you’ll need: bandanas of any colors

  1. Tie one corner of a bandana onto the other corner.
  2. Continue until you have a table runner the size that you’d prefer.
  3. Use as a table runner or pot holders!
